His Musical Background

Suraj has never officially learned music. His musical journey was a mix of coincidences and luck that took his talent to new grounds. He realised that he could sing when a few seniors tried to rag him in college by making him sing and ended up complimenting him instead.

Associating With Motherjane

Yet another coincidence was in how he became a part of the band ‘Motherjane’. He got to perform with them at a restaurant in Cochin without knowing who they really were. After the gig, they asked him to join the band, and from there the rest is history. They recorded two albums and went on to become one of the biggest bands in India with Suraj Mani as a writer, composer, and frontline vocalist for the iconic rock band.

Aum-i-Artistes & Music Mojo

He started a record label called Aum-i-Artistes along with Sumesh Lal, with the priority on ensuring that the artists get paid for their music. It finally led to the concept of Music Mojo for Kappa TV, which went on to spawn a whole lot of bands that have gone global, including Thaikkudam Bridge and Masala Coffee.

Playing At The KMB 2017 Closing Ceremony

Suraj Mani & The Tattva Trippers will be seen opening for Thaikkudam Bridge at the closing ceremony of Kochi Muziris Biennale 2016. The artists will be playing at the Durbar Hall Grounds after the official ceremonies.
