Cycling clubs share their favourite biking trails in Kochi and their love for the road

When I am making my commute particularly early I come across bikers making their merry way on the road, sometimes all alone but mostly in groups. I see them bike along energetically wearing their neon jackets come hail or hell fire and I wonder; What prompts these folks to get on their bikes and ride giving no heed to time or climate?

I did a little digging around and it turns out there are more than enough of these biking lovers who get up at the crack of the dawn and they all say in unison that they do it for the sheer love of the act and not just for the health/weight loss benefit although the interest may have started out that way. They take their bikes and ride on the roads less travelled and often come across some of the most scenic routes. And here is a list of the prominent bike clubs in Kochi:

Cochin Bikers Club

Cochin Bikers Club is a community of bikers from all over the city. These riders include daily commuters, weekend riders and leisure riders. The club is affiliated to Audax Club Parisien, France. They organize brevets in Cochin and are aiming to create a greener and a bicycling friendly environment by conducting weekly bike trips, boot camps, mountain bike competitions and coaching camps apart from various campaigns. Cochin Bikers Club was an organizer in the ‘Greenathon’ on the occasion of the World Car-Free Day, which coincided with the World Green Building Week.
