Kochi, 4th September 2016: India Fashion Summit 2016, the first ever premier business national conference which hosts country’s leading designers and industry experts was inaugurated by U V Jose IAS, Director, Kerala Tourism along with Arun Balachandran, CEO, India Fashion Summit, Vinod Nair, leading fashion journalist and advisor at India Fashion Summit and a number of leading designers and fashion entrepreneurs. “Fashion industry in india is about $110 Billion, but the focus is always given to the glamour part of the industry. It’s high time that we should look into its business opportunity aspects beyond glamour. India Fashion Summit 2016 is a step towards that.” said Arun Balachandran, CEO, India Fashion Summit in the inaugural ceremony. Leading designer Rahul Mishra, Shantanu& Nikhil and Beena Kannnan, Fashion Retail Heads such as Narendra Kumar (Chief Creative Officer, Amazon), GautamKotamraju ( Creative Head of Private Brands,Amazon) PerniaQureshi (Founder of Pernia’s Pop Up Shop), JaspreethChandok (Vice President and Head of Fashion, IMG Reliance), Fashion stylist and consultant Prasad Bidapa , fashion journalists NeenaHaridas (Editor, L’Officiel) and Vinod Nair (Former Fashion Editor,Hindustan Times and Times Of India) and other prominent personalities from the world of fashion were present on the dias.
India Fashion Summit is a Fashion Awareness creation body created by Fashion enthusiasts, professionals and business house to promote Fashion and related industries in Kerala. It is contemplated with various stake holders to make this an annual event in collaboration with the government, business houses and top end designers to show case the opportunity and business in the fashion industry. IFS aims at sustainable development of fashion industry and promotion of budding talents through the cross over business.
