The heART - bringing together different forms of art

This Sunday, the first edition of an art event called The heART takes place at Studio PepperFry
WKochi spoke to two of the founders of the organisation, Abdul Manaf and Sachin Rajeev. Regarding the choice of the name of the event, they said, ”It is spelled as The heART, where emphasis is given to the letters ART.”
The people
Co-founder of The heArt, Abdul Manaf doubles as the creative head of an ad agency by day and as a live music critic and aficionado by night. His partner Sachin Rajeev is a musician and the lead singer the band Chidakasha, while also being an artist manager.
The heART is a virtual space for art, artists, and for people who love the arts - music, poetry, fine art. It provides info about events that are happening around town. They will also be crafting art properties as well. Not just a concert or an art installation, they are trying to craft an experience for the people. They aim at promoting discussions on art and music in social media groups so that there is a healthy discussion about it among peers.
Looking to the future
Regarding the establishment’s ultimate goal, the founders said that they hope to build a community for people who think from the heart. “Art always comes from the heart. One does not take up any form of art because it makes logical sense. They do it because it is something they have to do. So we want people to have an outlet to speak about their art and find other people who have similar interests,” said the duo. They plan to launch a few curated events to promote art and artists.
The first event
They have their first curated show this Sunday, May 6 at Studio Pepperfry in Panampilly Nagar. This will have two amazing musical performances by Vishnu Varma and GrapeguitarBox, followed by a treatise on painting by artist extraordinaire Sachin M.S.
About the performers
Vishnu is an acclaimed singer/composer from Kochi. His first critically acclaimed single Kahi Na Kahi was featured in the television show MTV Indies. A very talented composer, one of his original songs will be gracing the silver screens very soon as well. Expect some originals in English and Malayalam along with some favourite covers.
GrapeGuitarBox aka Teenasai Balamu is an indie musician based in Bangalore. She explores the alternative side of pop by interpreting popular songs in her own style. She has also performed in an opening act for artists like Prateek Kuhad, Harish Sivaramakrishnan (of Agam), etc. Expect some originals along with her unique interpretation of some covers.
Sachin M S or popularly known as Artist Sachin is a painter, digital artist, teacher, and an extraordinary live painter. He runs the Artist Sachin School of Arts. He will be talking about his inspirations, his process, and what makes an artist.
The idea of this event is to bring together different forms of art and show people that art is not mutually exclusive and can, in fact, complement each other.This will be a regular monthly event. They hope to change the format with each edition and introduce different types of art to the audience with music performances by acclaimed artists.
